As expected, Shazam once again topped the domestic box office for a second weekend at #1. The newest DC flick earned an estimated $25.14M this weekend, dropping 53% bringing it's domestic total to over $94.91M. Overall this drop isn't as bad as originally expected as some media outlets expected a drop of over 57% so this number in our opinion is still solid. Worldwide the film has earned over $258M and unless it has a huge collapse, $300M-$400M seems very likely overall meaning the film should make a nice profit and break even in a nice little bow for WB.
In 2nd place is the newest flick Little, which managed to get ahead of Hellboy for the #2 spot. Little earned an estimated total of $15.49M this weekend and with a budget of $20M, it's very likely this film will be profitable for Universal.
In 3rd place is Hellboy which was only able to cash out an estimated $12.01M this weekend which is a horrible start considering the film already has awful reviews (15% on Rotten Tomatoes, like yikes!) and an atrocious C cinemascore. As of now things don't look too promising considering the film's $50M budget and the huge competition in coming weeks. We don't see this sticking around much longer and unfortunately anticipate a big second weekend drop. Domestically we see this making between $20M-$30M, not good considering it's budget is in the $50M range.
Moving onto 4th place, Pet Sematary dropped 59% with an estimated $10M this weekend, this drop is normal for a horror flick so we're not looking too much into it. It's current domestic total is $41M and we expect it to finish with around $50M-$60M which would be a solid result.
Rounding out the top 5 at #5 is Dumbo which after having an awful second weekend drop managed to 49% this weekend with an estimated $9.18M bringing it's domestic total to $89.94M. This still isn't a great total considering the film's ridiculous $170M budget but this might manage to finish between $110M-$120M domestically. Not a great result and probably not what Disney was hoping for.
Additional News: After debuted in 8th place with a total of $6.20M and Missing Link opened to 9th place with an estimated $5.84M.
